Content Guru Recognized in 2014 Thames Valley Business of the Year Award

On Thursday 19th November, Content Guru joined together with other leading ‘Tech Valley’ businesses to recognize the region’s best and brightest at the Thames Valley Business Magazine Awards 2014. In a special ceremony at Reading’s Royal Berkshire Conference Centre marking the 20th anniversary of these awards, Content Guru was named as the runner-up in the evening’s top category: ‘Thames Valley Business of the Year’.

Proceedings were kicked-off by the evening’s host, award-winning newscaster and presenter Fiona Bruce, who shared some highlights of her exciting and varied career in broadcasting. Meanwhile, Nick Hewer of television’s ‘The Apprentice’ was on hand to present the awards, also delighting attendees with an entertaining after-dinner speech rich with behind-the-scenes anecdotes of his times on the show and his career alongside Alan Sugar.

Throughout the evening, accolades were presented across a wide range of categories, from Best Use of Technology and Best Company to Work For, to SME of the Year and Dynamic Business of the Year. In the most hotly contested Business of the Year category, Content Guru beat off strong competition from finalists including five-times Queen’s Award winner Sun Mark, before eventually ceding top spot to the highly-successful IT distributor, Westcoast.

Content Guru’s prize on the night was collected by its Commercial Director, John Rees, who said of the award:

“It is a great pleasure to be recognized in the Business of the Year category at these established and prestigious awards. This region, as Europe’s foremost technology hub and a real powerhouse of the UK economy, plays host to a wealth of world-renowned blue-chip brands. Amongst this highly competitive group we are delighted to have been selected as the runner up in the Business of the Year Award, and we look forward to returning next year for another shot at the top prize!”
