Leading cloud communications provider, Content Guru, has developed a new video consultation application to enable Herts Urgent Care to operate its services digitally where possible. During the COVID-19 lockdown, this has helped minimize the risk of infection for both patients and clinicians.
Herts Urgent Care (HUC) runs the NHS 111 telephone line and General Practitioner (GP) out-of-hours services for over 3.3 million people in the East of England, both of which are crucial components of the NHS’s urgent care response. The transition was made more urgent by the COVID-19 pandemic, because face-to-face consultations were placing place both patients and clinicians at risk of infection.
Content Guru developed the storm® LINK On Demand One-Way Video Consultation application, as part of its wider Contact Centre as a Service (CCaaS) solution, storm. Whereas before, video consultations needed to be scheduled, Content Guru’s technology enables HUC’s services to offer them on an ad-hoc basis, which better suits the urgent care environment.
storm LINK On Demand One-Way Video Consultation meets all clinical safety and data protection safeguards required by the NHS and will be used routinely for patient care once the pilot phase is complete. Holding fewer face-to-face consultations significantly reduces the risk of coronavirus infection for clinicians and patients.
